Summary Description: Organized by the LMU Life
Sciences in Society Chair and BIOTOPIA-Naturkundemuseum Bayern, this
seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to 1) learn
theories behind public science engagement strategies and 2) put the
theories into practice by developing workshops or other public offerings
for the Biotopia Lab, an exhibition and educational space serving the
public in the Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg. Such public
offerings may include facilitated workshops for school groups, drop-in
activities for families, public program series, small-scale interactive
installations or others. Students will conduct independent background
research and work in groups to develop their ideas into robust programs
which have the potential to be included in the Biotopia Lab’s slate of
future public offerings. This is a unique opportunity for students to
not only learn from professionals in the field of science communication
but to apply their own scientific skills and knowledge into relevant and
compelling public programs.
Goals: 1) Participants explain and discuss aspects of effective life sciences communication in seminar presentations.
2)
Participant groups apply this knowledge and develop workshop programs
for one of the "Behaviour Exhibits" of their choice for a target group
of their choice for implementation in BIOTOPIA LAB.
3 ECTS, this seminar will be taught in English
- Enseignant: Andreas Brachmann
- Enseignant: Samara Kolditz
- Enseignant: Andrea Koplitz-Weißgerber
