This course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in particular functional magnetic resonance for the masters program in Neuro-cognitive Psychology (NCP). It consists of a combination of lectures, hands on experience at the imaging machines, and data analysis methods. We will focus on the data acquisition and analysis of fMRI data but will also look at structural imaging including: voxel based morphometry (VBM) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).
The course is set up as five topics or modules, that are listed below. The order of the topics is generally the order that we will use for the course.
The course is set up as 1.5 hours of lecture in the morning. Because the content of the course builds on previous lessons, the lecture portion will be split-up into a review followed by the current week's lession.
After a short break, the class
will go on to a guided tutorial session. This session is meant to get you
familiarised with Matlab and Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM) one of the
most widely used analysis programs for fMRI analyses.
