An introduction to the fundamentals of neuroanatomy, looking at structural and functional components of the brain. Students will look through the history of Neuroanatomy and the general development of the brain from an evolutionary perspective as well as across a human life span. A basic overview of cellular components of neurons and glial cells, the cortical and subcortical regions and their anatomical and functional features, and a look at different techniques used to study the brain, from staining to neuroimaging.
 
Taking away from this course:
-An understanding of the major landmarks of the brain
-Different orientations / terminology used in anatomy
-An overview of the development of the brain from embryo to adult
-The functionality of key regions
